Web and mobile platform Yelp Philippines ( officially went live midnight of June 25, 2015.

First-time to visit a buzzing shopping hub or a new restaurant but don’t know who to ask for feedback? Yelp Philippines wants to be your guide for the best tips in roaming the local business jungle. It connects people to local businesses including shopping hubs, restaurants, fitness centers, automobile services, travel spots, among others. Through Yelp, people from all walks of life can discuss and review local businesses, accounts, and services.

Besides offering reviews, the platform also provides details of the service including contact numbers, address and directions, and product photos. You can even interact with fellow commenters by sending them a message, giving a complement, sharing their review, or even following them on Yelp.

To ensure that you are not fooled by random reviews, Yelp suggests the most credible reviews based on the commenters track of usage, review quality, and reliability.

Recognizing that several users are increasingly on mobile, Yelp offers a free app for iOS and Android, as well as a free suite for business owners ( Some businesses may also promote check-in offers, providing perks and discounts. Watch out offers from your go-to hang-out spots.

“Filipinos are so well-connected online and offline that we know they will love using Yelp to find and connect with great local businesses,” said Miriam Warren, Yelp Vice President of New Markets, commending the connectivity of Filipinos as vital in the growth of info dissemination. “We will be working hard to make sure Yelp is the most useful and relevant local resource for every Pinoy.”

Globally, Yelp has a total of nearly 77 million filtered reviews alone, atop its 142 million average monthly unique visitors. The Philippines is the sixth country in Asia and the 32nd in the international market to join the Yelp community. Yelp has been around since July 2004.
