The Mi 3, the fastest phone from Philippine newcomer Xiaomi, goes on sale again at 11 a.m. today, July 4, 2014. Up to 2,000 units will be available, still at P10,599. This time around, the sale will be held on Lazada’s website:

This follows Mi 3’s successful first sale in the Philippines, which took place on June 26. The 3,000 units available were reportedly sold out within or after an hour.

Although much slower than Mi 3’s launches in neighboring countries where more units were sold in a much shorter amount of time, this shows good promise of Xiaomi’s global expansion, already penetrating several Asia countries, including Malaysia and Singapore.

This also shows good traction for the newcomer, especially in a country where online shopping is not as popular or as trusted. Xiaomi rectified this by partnering with Lazada Philippines to be able to provide a cash on delivery service. Lazada also took over the actual delivery of items.

About 25 percent of the orders were delivered on the same day of the sale, according to Hugo Barra, VP of Xiaomi Global. By the weekend after June 26, 70 percent of orders had been delivered. The first 100 orders included a Thank You card personally signed by Barra and Bin Lin, co-founder of Xiaomi.

Xiaomi, known to listen and adapt to customers’ feedback, took to their Facebook Page ( to ask fans what time is more ideal for the second sale. Poll results showed moving the sale time one hour earlier was more favored, and so Xiaomi did as requested.

Nearly everyone is waiting to see how fast this second batch of Mi 3 units will be sold out. But for some of us who failed to make it to the first sale, fingers are just waiting to click.
