Google’s emails service Gmail and Facebook-owned messaging app WhatsApp have both crossed the one billion monthly active user milestone, which means that a seventh of the world’s population are using the services.

In a short blog post, WhatsApp expressed their joy over this achievement, “We are proud of this milestone, and we’re humbled by the extraordinary ways all of you have used WhatsApp. Whether it’s sharing vital information during natural disasters or health emergencies, finding a date, growing a small business, buying an engagement ring, or seeking a better life—we’re honored to be a small part of what people are doing to make their lives and the lives of those around them better.”

The one billion milestone for the WhatsApp followed the company’s recent announcement that it is cancelling the messaging service’s subscription fees, making it free of charge even after the one year trial period.

Faceboook CEO Mark Zuckerberg said in a Facebook post, “WhatsApp’s community has more than doubled since joining Facebook. We’ve added the ability for you to call loved ones far away. We’ve dropped the subscription fee and made WhatsApp completely free. Next, we’re going to work to connect more people around the world and make it easier to communicate with businesses.”

According to WhatsApp co-founder Jan Koum’s post on Facebook, there are 42 billion messages, 1.6 billion photos, and 250 million videos shared every day on the platform.

Facebook has now two products with more than a billion users: Facebook and WhatsApp. Meanwhile, Gmail is Google’s seventh service that passes the one billion mark, following Search, Chrome, Android, Google Play, Maps, and YouTube.

It was during Alphabet‘s Q4 2015 earnings call that Google CEO Sundar Pichai revealed the news to the investors and media that has more than one billion monthly users.

Apple too is a member of the billion club. It announced last week that the number of worldwide Apple devices crossed the billion mark.
