GoPro unveils its smallest action cam yet
User Rating

You think your current GoPro Hero4 camera is already small and light enough for your adventure needs? GoPro thought otherwise as the company unveiled its latest addition to the Hero4 series, the GoPro Hero4 Session.

Touted by the company as the smallest and lightest GoPro action cam yet, the Hero4 Session is half the size and nearly half the weight of other Hero4 cameras. The lightweight form factor of the Hero4 Session is made possible by its durable waterproof design, which eliminated the need for a separate housing.

The new GoPro Hero4 Session features newer and simpler ways of taking high definition videos and photos with its simple one-button control. A short press of the shutter button powers the camera on and automatically records video. A long press of the button turns it on, too, but this time triggers the Time Lapse photo capture. To save the capture image, simply press the shutter button again.

This action cam captures 1080p @ 60fps, 720p @ 100fps, and 1440p @ 30fps, along with 8MP photos in Single, Burst, or Time Lapse modes. The Hero4 Session retained features from the Hero4 Black and Silver cameras such as SuperView, Protune, and Auto Low Light recording modes.

Waterproof up to 10 meters, the GoPro Hero4 Session also comes with a dual  microphone system, which cancels wind noise during recording and actively switches depending on the position of the action-cam.

The complete specs and features of the GoPro Hero4 Session are as follows:

  • captures 8MP Single, 10 fps Burst, and 05.-60 seconds Time Lapse photos
  • 1440p @ 30fps, 1080p @ 60fps, and 720p @ 100fps video recording
  • Easy one-button control
  • compatible with GoPro mounts and accessories
  • dual mic system
  • built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, connects with the GoPro app and Smart Remote
  • auto image rotation
  • supports Class 10 or UHS-I microSD cards up to 64GB
  • battery offers up to two hours of recording time
  • waterproof up to 10m, no separate housing required

Officially distributed by Moduvi, Inc., the GoPro Hero4 Session hit stores last July 12 with a price tag of P20,990.
