Netflix showcased its hottest programs last May 4 in a media event held at the Green Sun Hotel in Makati.

The event coined as #ByahengNetflix pooled members of the media along themed hubs inspired by popular Netflix shows. Among the teased programs include returning popular seasons and new Netflix-exclusive content.

Chef’s Table, a documentary series on what goes behind the kitchens of the world’s top chefs, leads the charge of shows making a comeback. Renowned series Orange is the New Black will likewise be another returning program to watch out for. Meanwhile, notorious business mogul Pablo Escobar continues his journey to domination in the second season of Narcos.

Other new shows to look out for are The Get Down, a tale that digs deep into the rise of hip-hop, punk, and disco, and Beat Bugs, a kids-show inspired by the music of the Beatles.

Netflix first officially landed in the Philippines last January 2016 as part of its global expansion. The company is currently a global leader in internet subscription service catering to over 81 million members in over 189 countries, and provides more than 125 million hours of TV shows, movies, documentaries, and feature films.

Netflix users can create up to five different profiles on a single account, which entitles users to the full library of shows. Other exciting features include adaptive streaming, a smart feature that lets the application automatically adjust video resolution according to bandwidth. The use of highly specific algorithm offers an exciting treat as it can specifically track viewing patters, resulting in a personalized interface tailor fitted for every user’s viewing behavior. For instance, suggested shows that suit your genre of taste appear on your app browser.

Furthermore, Netflix offers custom profiles as well for various users—a handy feature for families who share a single account, allowing parents to program restrictions for children.

Available in three subscription options, Netflix’s rates are as follows:

  • 1 screen standard definition: P370/month
  • 2 screens simultaneously on HD definition: P460/ month
  • 4 screens simultaneously on HD or 4K Ultra HD: P550 per month

The internet TV application is playable on smart TVs, Android or iOS devices, PCs and Macs, home theater systems, and even gaming consoles such as Playstation 3 and 4, Wii U, and Google Chromecast.
