Did you know that running on under-inflated tires result in shorter tire service life, increased fuel consumption, and in millions of tons of carbon emissions? So if it’s been a while since the last time you checked your car’s tire pressure, you better do your homework now.

As part of its Road Safety advocacy, Michelin launched its Fill Up with Air (FUWA) Safety Campaign last November 21 at S&R Alabang Open Parking Lot in Muntinlupa. An inspection tent setup onsite invited all S&R members to have their vehicles’ tire pressure checked and adjusted for free. The Michelin tire experts also checked for the tires’ tread wear and other conditions and gave tire safety advice.

“It is the aim of Michelin to foster better and safer mobility.  Through safety campaigns and educational activities such as Fill Up With Air, Michelin hopes people will increasingly pay attention on how important the care and selection of tires is to ensure the safety of themselves and families on the road,” explained Michael Nunag, country director of Michelin Philippines.

Michelin has been conducting the FUWA Road Safety Campaign throughout the world in over 16 European countries. More than 100,000 vehicles were inspected from 2002 to 2012.
