Lenovo announced to the local press yesterday the arrival of the Vibe X2 in the Philippines.

Lenovo’s newest flagship was unveiled at 12 Monkeys Music Hall & Pub, Century City Mall in Makati. It sports the first layered smartphone design, the latest MediaTek true octa-core processor, and clip-on Vibe Xtension accessories that stretch the device’s functionality.

“Becoming a PC Plus leader with a focus on smartphone is the most crucial challenge for Lenovo. We are well positioned to succeed as we have the innovation and in-house manufacturing capability to bring new and exciting products to the market quickly and efficiently,” said Michael Ngan, Country General Manager, Lenovo Philippines.

The multilayer design gives the Vibe X2 a pop of color in various complementing shades, each applied through three coats of paint. Meanwhile, the MediaTek octa-core processor ensures smooth and fast performance, as the smartphone runs on the latest Android KitKat version.

Plans of upgrading 2014 Lenovo models to Android Lollipop are already underway.

The rear camera boasts a standard 13 megapixels, which is now common among flagship devices. The Vibe X2’s front-facing camera, however, has more up its sleeve, boasting several gesture controls and a wide-angle lens.

The Vibe Xtensions, also introduced first with the Vibe X2, add to the smartphone’s functionality. The Vibe X2 Battery adds nearly 75 percent of battery life to the Vibe X2, while the Vibe X2 Speaker features JBL technology and doubles as a stand. These clip-on accessories will soon be available in the Philippines as well.
