Sony launches new Xperia products, SmartBand

Sony introduced the new SmartBand and several additions to its Xperia line: E1, T2 Ultra, M2, Z1 Compact, and Z2 Tablet.

Xperia Z2 Tablet

Sony’s Xperia Z2 Tablet hails itself as the lightest and slimmest waterproof tablet. It promises to deliver bright colors and sharp images in any light with its Live Colour LED Display, and the clearest sound quality with Sony’s Front Surround audio technology. The tablet will be available only in black starting the middle of April at P33,190 (with LTE).

Xperia Z1 Compact

Sony launched a compact version of last year’s flagship smartphone, the Xperia Z1 Compact. It boasts of a 20.7 MP camera, water- and dust-resistance, and a variety of Social Camera apps such as the InfoEye and Social Live. It will be available in four colors: white, black, pink, and lime. The Xperia Z1 Compact will start selling by the last week of March at P25,490.

Xperia T2 Ultra

The Xperia T2 Ultra packs a 6-inch HD TRILUMINOS display and a 13MP camera, which makes it perfect for movie and music lovers. The smartphone is 7.6mm-thin and only weighs 173g. It will be available in three colors—black, white, and purple—by the 3rd week of April at P18,990.

Xperia M2

Armed with a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400, 4G LTE, and a 2,300mAh battery with STAMINA Mode 3.0, the Xperia M2 is the perfect match for those who are always on the go. It comes in three colors: black, white, and purple. The Xperia M2 will available starting mid-May at P14,190.

Xperia E1

With its 100Db speakers, and ClearAudio+ and xLOUD modes, the Xperia E1 promises cleaner and louder audio. The Sony WALKMAN technology incorporated to it allows an easy audio track loading and navigation. The Xperia E1 is available starting March 2014. It comes in black, white, and purple, and is priced at P6,590 for the single SIM variant and P7,490 for the dual SIM variant.


Aside from smartphones and tablets, Sony launched a wearable device, the Sony Smartband. Using the Lifelog app in an Xperia Z2, the Sony Smartband can keep track of your daily activities. The Sony Smartband will be available by May 2014 at P4,290.

Xperia VIP Premium Services+

To enhance the Xperia experience and build loyalty, Sony launched its own customer support program for its consumers, the Sony Xperia VIP Premium Services+.

Cardholders can avail a number of benefits such as Free Pick-up and Delivery Service, which guarantees delivery of units within 24 hours in key cities (Metro Manila, Davao, and Cebu) and 48 to 72 hours in secondary and tertiary cities. Guaranteed Loaner Unit provides a loan unit to the customer during the ongoing repair of his unit. Quick Turn-around time guarantees the return of a repaired unit within seven days in key cities and a maximum of 12 days in secondary and tertiary cities. The VIP Express Lane gives priority to units sent to Sony’s service centers. The only units applicable to these premium services are the Xperia Z2, Xperia Z2 Tablet, Xperia Z1 Compact, Xperia Z1, and Xperia Z Ultra.
