This year marks Honda Cars Philippines, Inc.’s (HCPI) 25th anniversary in the country, and what better way to celebrate it than by unveiling a Honda model 25 years after it first arrived on our shores.

Last April 26, HCPI took the wraps off the 10th-generation Honda Civic at the Makati Shangri-la Hotel, with HCPI executives in full force.

The 2016 model is sleek with its sweptback bodylines, defined character lines, and low and wide stance. The bold front is complemented by LED headlights and LED DRLs, while the rear gets C-shaped taillights that now extend over to the trunk, a new rear bumper, and revamped trunk design.

The 2016 Civic comes in two variants. The top-of-the-line RS Turbo (P1,398,000) comes with a 1.5-liter VTEC turbo engine that generates 171hp @ 5,500rpm and 220Nm @ 1,700-5,500rpm, while the 1.8 E variant (P1,088,000) has a 1.8-liter SPHC i-VTEC engine that delivers 139hp and 174Nm.

Both engines are mated to a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) developed under Earth Dreams Technology. The RS Turbo is equipped with paddle shifters for a sportier driving performance.

Inside, the Civic gets a one-piece soft touch instrument panel, a full-color TFT instrument panel, and piano black finish and silver bezels on the center console. Entertainment and connectivity are taken care of by a 7-inch touchscreen that supports mirror linking with a mobile device (RS Turbo comes with a navi system).

The sportier RS Turbo gets RS Design 17-inch alloy wheels, gloss black front grille, wing type trunk spoiler, chrome door handles, LED fog lights, and leather seats and steering wheel.

The all-new Civic’s Smart Key incorporates a Remote Engine Start Function that starts the engine from the outside and turns on its automatic climate control system. The Walk-away Auto Lock Feature, on the other hand, automatically locks all doors when the key fob is moved 2.5 meters away.

The 2016 Honda Civic is available in the following colors:

  • Cosmic Blue Metallic (new color)
  • Midnight Burgundy Pearl (new color)
  • Lunar Silver Metallic
  • White Orchid Pearl
  • Rallye Red (RS Turbo only)
  • Modern Steel Metallic (1.8 E only)

Reservations for the all-new Civic are now accepted at Honda dealers nationwide, and actual delivery will start in June 2016.
