Honda has joined one of the hottest market segments with the launch of its new five-seater compact crossover, the Honda HR-V.

Built on the Jazz platform, the HR-V combines the fuel economy and maneuverability of the subcompact hatchback with the taller driving position and larger cargo area of an SUV. It comes with Honda’s ULT seats, which means they can be folded and flipped in three configurations—utility, long, or tall—to accommodate different kinds of stuff, from surfboards to bikes.

Under the hood of the HR-V is a 1.8-liter SOHC i-VITEC engine (139hp and 172Nm) paired with Honda’s continuously variable transmission (CVT). The top and mid variants come with paddle shifters and cruise control.

Standard across the line is a Smart Entry with push button engine start/stop along with steering wheel audio controls. The E and EL variants come with multi-information display (MID), a 7-inch touchscreen display audio with USB and HDMI power ports, six speakers, a touch panel automatic climate control, and Bluetooth handsfree. The top-of-the-line EL comes with leather seats.
