Fujifilm X-E2 launches in Phl

Fujifilm X-E2 launches in Phl

Fujifilm Philippines has been impressively bringing new models for a local release faster than most of the other top imaging brands. The latest of the bunch is the X-E2, which landed in the country just a couple of weeks after its international launch. And that’s after Fujifilm X Ambassadors have already tested the camera in different locations in the Philippines.

Right after the unveiling of the product, Fujifilm Philippines division manager for digital cameras Nelson Cruz Perez introduced the features of the new MILC. All were very strong on paper but we all know solid specs don’t always translate to a solid performance.

That’s where X Ambassadors Niko Villegas, Rommel Bundalian, and George Tapan come in. The three shared their experiences and sample images with the X-E2 compared with other cameras in the X Series and from other brands. The photographs are proof of the X-E2’s low-light shooting, fast shutter speed (up to 0.08 sec), smart AF, sharpness, vibrant but natural color reproduction, detail retention, and compactness.  The X Ambassadors were all praises, and describe the X-E2 as a mix of the X100s, X-Pro1, and X-M1 because of the single-button photo sharing via Wi-Fi.

The X-E2 sports a 16.3MP APS-C X-Trans CMOS II sensor, EXR Processor II, and the new Lens Modulation Optimizer (LMO) feature, which is compatible with any of the XF lenses. It has a 2.360k-dot OLED EVF, a 3-inch LCD, Full HD movie recording, and up to 6400 (25600 ext.) ISO. The film simulation modes are extra fun for film lovers who miss the effects of Velvia (my favorite!) and Provia, among others. All of these are a feast to a photography enthusiast like myself, and by golly do I want an X-E2, budget permitting.

The X-E2 will be available on retail around mid-November at an SRP of P69,990.
