Planning a trip to Argentina, Guam, Iceland, Peru, or Uruguay? Smart Communications has you covered as the telecom giant has added these and 50 other countries to its data roaming network.

Postpaid subscribers can now go online in a total of 112 countries for P550 a day with the Surf Abroad 550 data roaming package, which initially covered 57 countries when it was launched in 2014.

The enhanced service doesn’t require registration and automatically connects to the network of a roaming partner. Subscribers just need to turn on the data roaming feature of their smartphones.

With the Surf Abroad subscription, users can access their email, post on social media, chat with friends via messaging apps, access Google Maps, or just surf for anything on the Web. The service, however, excludes bandwidth-heavy activities such as streaming videos and music and peer-to-peer file sharing.

Surf Abroad 550 is also powered by network-lock technology, which automatically steers and locks your phone onto Smart’s roaming partner-networks, eliminating the hassle of having to manually select every time and ensuring you that you won’t incur unwanted charges and “bill shock” when you return from your vacation.
