Epson Philippines Corporation (EPC) capped off another successful fiscal year, achieving market leadership in four categories in 2014: Projectors, and Inkjet, Dot Matrix, and POS printers. The company shared its success with the members of the press in their sixth annual media appreciation event, the Epson Fusion. This achievement comes timely as the Epson brand celebrates it 40th anniversary this year.

Leads in 4 categories

Data from the International Data Corporation (IDC) Asia/Pacific Hardcopy Peripherals Tracker, 2015Q1 report shows that Epson garnered 35.9 percent market share and a commanding 48.1 percent value share, overtaking other brands offering Inkjet Printers in the Philippines. Epson gained an increase of 11.3 percentage points in market share from CY2013 to CY2014. IDC is the standard source for market share and value share information in the Philippines and in most countries.

Epson also ends 2014 as the leading brand in the projector category for 14 consecutive years, as confirmed by FutureSource Consulting, the leading research and forecasting company in consumer electronics, entertainment, and education markets. Here in the Philippines, a growth spurt of 6 percentage points enabled the Epson brand to capture market leadership in the country, leading the industry with a commanding 31 percent market share.

EPC extends the company’s winning streak in the category of Dot Matrix printers and Point-of-Sale (POS) systems. Based on Epson’s internal data, Epson remains as the world’s leader in the dot matrix impact printer category and is still the undisputed leader in the country. The Epson brand continues to be the brand of choice in the Philippines for the past 17 years–holding an outstanding 96 percent market share in this category.


Epson brand’s 40th anniversary

Securing the biggest market share in four categories ushers in a bright year for EPC and the Epson brand. In celebration of the latter’s 40th year, EPC Marcom head, Donna V. Ferro, also presented one of the new 40th year Epson videos featuring Epson Philippines’ advocacy project called “Gift of Brightness” and the brand’s special 40th anniversary logo.

“This year’s Fusion event is especially meaningful for us because on June 12, 2015, the Epson brand will be celebrating its 40th anniversary. Our 40-year journey is dedicated to our customers, and Epson makes this clear in our special commemorative videos. We are proud to say that the first of these videos, entitled “Educating To Change The Future”  features a special project here by Epson Philippines called the Epson Gift of Brightness,” said Ferro.

The 40-year story of Epson began in a small Japanese town called Nagano. The company started its journey into the printing business by making the world’s first compact, lightweight digital printer–the EP-101.
