Say goodbye to your noisy photo woes. Canon unveiled a small black box that packs a heavy punch in almost pure darkness. The Canon ME20F-SH is a small camera that comes with an EF mount and is able to capture full HD videos in the dark.

To make this feat possible, the ME20F-SH’s core is equipped with a 2.26MP CMOS sensor, which is about 5.5x larger in photo resolution than that of today’s high-tier DLSRs. With this in mount and ready to fire, the camera can capture videos with a 1080/60/30/24p quality at a light as dim as 0.0005 lux at a maximum gain of 75Db, essentially an ISO 4 million setting.

Like Canon’s wide array of cinema cameras, Canon’s Log and Wide DR modes are available in the ME20F-SH, giving it a wide range of shots with its unique ultra-ISO feature.

All EF and EF-S lenses are supported by the ME20F-SH. This cube-shaped camera also comes with a locking mechanism and an autofocus support. Built-in neural density and IR cut filters are included, and both can be enabled and disabled at will.

The versatility of the ME20F-SH doesn’t stop there as it’s built with ports galore. There are 3G/HD-SDI and HDMI ports for monitor or screen cast viewing, 2.5mm mini-jack and 8-pin RS-422 for remote controls, 3.5mm audio jack for external mic use, and a GENLOCK port for multiple video source synchronization. The available microSD slot, however, can only be used for firmware updates.

This ultra-versatile camera for both amateur and professional photographers/videographers is sure to deliver what it promises, but good luck trying to get your hands on one. Bagging this ISO god of a machine doesn’t come cheap; the Canon ME20F-SH will come out December this year with a $30,000 price tag on it. Four months left to save up or find where can you sell your soul for this tiny black box of wonders.
