With some of the country’s most respected photographers in attendance, Canon Philippines launched its new flagship DSLR, the EOS-1D X Mark II, and the top-of-the-line midrange EOS 80DSpeed, along with other members of the press and the invited photographers, got to witness the unveiling of these two new Canon cameras at the Shangri-La at the Fort, Manila.

A highlight of the evening was the attendance of world-renowned, multi-awarded sports and Olympic photographer Simon Bruty, whose works have been published in numerous publications including Sports Illustrated, The Players Tribune, and FIFA. Bruty showcased some of his most excellent works in front of the eager crowd during the event, including those shot using the new 1D X Mark II.

Ferocious flagship

The new Canon EOS-1D X Mark II, locally priced at P279,998, inherits the throne of the original flagship 1D X. This upgraded shooter has an integrated 61-point all points selectable AF system with a 41-point cross-type AF for more precise controls. Perfect for action photographers, Canon packs the 1D X Mark II with a rapid 14fps frame rate, or up to 16fps on Live View.

Inside, the 1D X Mark II comes with a 35mm full-frame CMOS sensor, Dual DIGIC 6+ image processor, 20.2MP resolution, and ISO speeds of up to 409,600—a full stop higher than its predecessor. The 1D X Mark II is shelled in a robust magnesium alloy body with a dust- and drip-proof design, so you can brave any outdoor terrain.

For people who likes taking videos, the second-generation 1D X can now capture 4K motion JPEG at 60/50p. Furthermore, this flagship camera comes with a built-in GPS. Making file transfer easier between the camera and a smartphone is an optional WFT-E8D Wireless File Transmitter.
