A thinner, lighter, and faster MacBook Air is here!

Apple revealed on its store the new and updated versions of the MacBook Air–its slim, lightweight, oft-imitated laptop computer. These 2014 variants are pretty much the same as the previous MacBook Airs, with some slight–but important–changes.

The spec change centers on Intel’s Haswell CPU, with the new MacBook Airs using a 1.4GHz Core i5 processor, an improvement in speed compared with the previous 1.3GHz. And you can boost the CPUs up to a 1.7 GHz Core i7, for an additional price, of course.

Apple also replaced the previous model’s storage with faster PCIe-based flash storage, providing faster access to data.

The new MacBook Airs also feature an all-day battery life. The 11-inch version lasts up to 9 hours between charges and the 13-inch model lasts up to 12 hours.

What’s more? Apple has dropped the prices of all its MacBook Air variants by $100. The base 11-inch and the 13-inch models now start at $899 and $999, respectively.
